Conversion of rupees and paise
Rupees into paise
As ₹ 1 = 100 paise, multiply the amount in rupees by 100 to convert it into paise.
Example 1: ₹ 3 = 3 × 100 = 300 paise
₹ 15 = 15 × 100 paise = 1500 paise
Example 2: ₹ 40.56 = 40 × 100 paise + 56 paise
= 4000 paise + 56 paise = 4056 paise
Example 3: ₹ 85.50 = 8550 paise
Paise into rupees
Put a point '.' before the second digit from the right, to convert given paise into rupees.
Example 4:
1111 paise = ₹ 11.11 or rupees 11 and 11 paise
610 paise = ₹ 6.10 or rupees 6 and 10 paise
5001 paise = ₹ 50.01 or rupees 50 and 1 paise
Addition of money
Example 5: Add ₹ 30.70 and ₹ 12.50
Answer: ₹ 43.20
Subtraction of money
Example 6:
Subtract ₹ 50.40 from ₹ 57.80.
Answer: ₹ 7.40
Multiplication of money
Example 7:
Multiply ₹ 5.05 by 8.
Step 1: Remove point '.', so we have 505.
Step 2: Multiply 505 by 8
Step 3: Put the point (.) before the second digit from the right.
Answer: ₹ 40.40
Division of money
Example 8: Divide ₹ 30.6 by 3.
Answer: 10.2
