Shelters of Wild Animals

Caves/Dens: Lions, tigers, bears, wolves, and bats make their homes in caves.

Dens are small caves.

Many water animals like.

Eeels, live in underwater caves.

Burrows and Holes: Foxes, rabbits, prairie dogs, and ants live underground.

These animals dig into the ground to make their homes. Ants make holes and tunnels under the ground or in crevices.

Shells: Some animals with very soft bodies have shells covering them. These shells are hard and protect the animal inside. These animals live inside these shells.
Snails, crabs, and turtles have permanent shells on them. Hermit crabs use shells of other animals to protect themselves.

Hollow Logs: Animals like the bobcat, mink, foxes, otters, skunks, and weasels live in forests. They make their homes inside hollow logs.

Tree Hollows: Some trees have a hollow or empty hole in them. Squirrels, owls, porcupines, racoons and black bears make their homes inside these hollows.

Fish live in water. Caves, corals, holes, seaweeds, etc., are some of the places where fish live.

Nests: Birds make nests to lay their eggs. They use twigs, leaves, hay, cotton etc., to build their nests. Most nests are built on tree branches. But some birds make their nests on the ground or on cliffs.
