Multiplication on number line
We use a number line to find the product of two numbers.
Let us find the product of 2 ⨯ 8 on a number line.
Here are the steps.
Step 1: Start from zero on a number line.
Step 2: Skip 1 to reach 2.
Step 3: Make 8 jumps skipping a number every-time.
Step 4: After 8 jumps we reach 16, which is the product
Therefore, 2 ⨯ 8 = 16
Now let us use the same technique to find the product of 3 ⨯ 4.
Skip two numbers each time and make 4 jumps.
We reach 12.
Therefore,
3 ⨯ 4 = 12
