What is an oval shape ?

The word oval is derived from the Latin word "ovus" meaning egg. The curve has no precise mathematical definition unlike an ellipse.
It resembles a squashed circle. Ovals could have just one axis of symmetry while ellipse mandatorily has two axes of symmetry along major and minor axes.
The KIA Oval cricket ground at Kennigton, South London despite the term "oval" is not of oval shape !
