Recombinant DNA technology Recombinant DNA technology has launched a revolution in the area of biotechnology.

Recombinant DNA technology is the chemical manipulation of the genotypes and resulting phenotypes of organisms such that living organisms are modified for beneficial products.

It involves either the combining of DNA from different genomes or the insertion of foreign DNA into a genome. This technology allowed the development of novel biological products, indeed whole industries are now devoted to DNA – technology – based production and analysis of biological materials. One of the great achievements of modern science has been the sequencing of the human genome, which was largely completed by 2003.

DNA technology has launched a revolution in the area of biotechnology, the manipulation of organisms or their components to make useful products. Recombinant DNA technology includes the techniques developed for the isolation, manipulation and alteration of DNA in a test tube, as well as the transfer of this DNA back into cells.
